Grateful thanks to Mike and Jan Norman who originally designed the garden at Ardnashiel and who from across the world sent these two photos of the plot prior to its conception in 1990 and fifteen years later when they moved away.
Apparently the whole back area was under 4 layers of stone chippings and black plastic which had to be lifted before the design could be started. What energy and enthusiasm to tackle such a task!
