It was a fun trip to the Mearns daffodil fields for our intrepid members. After a short presentation on the potted history of the co operative then an update on today’s functioning as a premier Scottish daffodil producer we all headed out to the fields to try our hands at the skilled task of picking daffodils to a strict criteria. Despite us failing at what looked like a simple task, we did have the pleasure of taking away our efforts to enjoy in a vase at home. Next was a visit to the chill room which is kept to a constant 1C before packing and exporting to auction houses, supermarkets or flown abroad to the USA or Europe. We learned so much in a fun way that the cars were buzzing with chat on the way home. Thanks Grampian Growers for a superb visit.
